CASH 4 JUNK CARS!!!
Woodcut, 68x36", printed on Legion Stonehenge 'White' printmaking paper by Pele Prints in 2024, limited edition of 20 prints. First printed with a steamroller at the Block Party at the Foundry Art Center in St. Charles, MO.
This image comes from a photo I took in Philadelphia the day after a warehouse rave outside the venue. Removed from its utility as a vehicle, the car in its abject state takes on a sculptural form. The inspiration to make the image into a print draws from my research on decay and entropy in the built environment seen in my sculptural painting work.
The title is a play on the signs that can be seen around any city, as well as a sort of inside joke referencing the used-car-salesman persona I take on when selling my prints at market events.
This print is a continuation of my "giant floating objects" series. I use "tonal carving" and eliminate outlines and background to create a quasi-photo-realistic effect of an object floating in a vacuum.
(Block was printed on muslin for the event but the official edition is on paper)
